“Following The Phantom Menace, this movie represents an important advancement in each section, from plot to character and even in computer-generated particular results. Much like the next movie in the first Star Wars trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back, Clones introduces ever-growing darkness to the prequel trilogy and divides its top cast to pursue distinct experiences before approving them to get a desperate stand against bad.
On the other hand, the problems that plagued Menace are only as conspicuous in Attack of the Clones, particularly dialogue, which proceeds to clatter on the ground the moment it leaves a character’s mouth. Though Lucas worked with another screenwriter with this movie (Jonathan Hales), the many painful sequences, where Anakin and Padme excruciatingly drop in love, appear to be pure Lucas. A subplot after Obi-Wan in galactic gumshoe style hoping to fix an integral puzzle is a lot more successful. If nothing else, the scene on screen in Clones ensures it’s easy to dismiss the more squirm-inducing efforts at a romantic subplot and rather enjoy the huge battles.”
